An air circulation pattern is established inside the cold room, the evaporator .... and this leads to mass losses the efficiency of defrosting is very low.

They didn't insulate any of the ductwork in the crawl space of our home. Nothing. To make matters worse, the crawlspace was ventilated with a fan so that in the winter time A LOT of heat was being lost through conduction. I wrote about this in another blog entry that I have just added to the bottom of this blog entry.

Have you ever seen where Melody Homes did not put duct work in the crawl for the first floor?

I just did. They put suspended sheet metal deflectors to guide the air up through the holes "vents" in the floor.

It would be nice to know if this was just a lazy day for the Sub or standard procedure.
